For a bit of balance, the guys that did this would deserve it

Why would that give balance? You're allowed to kill Afghans because some other Afghans killed some other Afghans?http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-15688354

Let me clarify. What I meant was that if someone is convicted of cold blooded murder like that of those women, then they deserve capital punishment in my opinion.
How is that relevant to this case?s1962a said:
I put the 2nd article on there to show that atrocities aren't just one sided.
But what is your motive in countering this point-which-no-one-has-made?Are you presenting this as some sort of mitigation?
"Yeah, we have psychos on our side, but they do too, so it all evens out".
That sort of thing?
From what I remember of the coverage, in this case one of the brigade told his father of the murders, and his father reported it to the base, and the base did nothing. It was only a subsequent investigation into cannabis use that led to the murders being properly investigated.
That's a completely systemic failure which seems to suggest that the US military takes drug taking more seriously than homicide.
Or that's how it looks, anyway.
There's strong whiff of Apocalypse Now.

He kills people. It is what he does, what he was trained to do.
Shame they didn't give him a bit more training in how not to get caught really.
Er no.....he was trained to be a soldier, not a killer. I guess you apply the same logic to the Nazi soldiers who ran the concentration camps do you?Shame they didn't give him a bit more training in how not to get caught really.

Although, admittedly, it was a little dry.

Train thousands of guys to kill, one is bound to enjoy it.. Hopefully the only one.

Then it happened. Pretty much the whole platoon knows about it. It's OK with all of them pretty much. Except me.
Seems like the odd one out was the one with a functioning conscience.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
