Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15730665
Actually they've made a few already, at least three that I can remember going back into the 70's and beyond. How can they be so poor at researching something that they actually made? What a waste of the license fee.

I'm pretty sure the films weren't actually a BBC production.
IMDB suggests AARU was the production company, which may well have been a Hammer vehicle as Peter Cushing plays the Dr in both and he was surely a Hammer contract actor. AARU are credited only with the two Dr Who movies.
Dr Who & the Daleks - 1965
and
Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD - 1966

In fact they mention the PAul McGann one in the very link you posted.
Sky are even worse.
In 2003 they showed live TV footage from a US Navy aircraft carrier moored off San Diego. It was covering the visit of George Bush to thank the US Navy for their contribution to the "liberation" of Iraq.
The Sky reporter kept stating that these were truly historic images as he expected it was the first time that live TV had been broadcast from a carrier at sea.
I wonder if he would have been surprised to learn that CBS were reporting live from the flightdecks of the USS Wasp and Intrepid as they steamed through the Atlantic waiting to recover the Gemini space missions - 1965 and 1966.
