A wise head is usually found on old shoulders. The Duke is, of course, spot on with what he says.

2/3rds of this country’s wind turbines are owned by foreign companies, and they reap about £500m a year in subsidies.
The company boss who the Duke slated is Dutch (loved it when he the Duke asked him if he believed in Fairy tales! laugh) and it's his Dutch company that is also planning to build more of these useless monstrosities from Scotland to the South of England.

The whole wind/electricity generation system seems to be in a complete mess. I read some of the related articles to the one above and they defy belief, eg:

Wind farm paid £1.2 million to produce no electricity

The aristocrats cashing in on Britain's wind farm subsidies

Bring on nuclear power.

Just need a wall, to put those who lied and robbed us millions of tax pounds based on their lies, up against to shoot. And I am sure they would be happy because they would stop breathing which means no more nasty Co2 being emitted by them.

It's a win win.

As pointed out in the article, with pump storage, windfarms become a bit more useful. We don't have anywhere near enough pump storage capacity though.

Since, short of drowning even more of Scotland, Wales and Cumbria under even more dammed pumped energy there's no possible way that "pumped storage" can help the country turn windwasters into a viable energy source, is there a chance they might just learn to shut up and let it all fade away.

frown s'pose not frown

How wrong am I here?

Each WW requires
a: a pump to drive when its (safely) windy
b: some place no-one will miss to hold its pumped energy
c: somewhere to run the pumped energy off to for when the wind stops so it can provide previously pumped energy without destroying the pumped energy table at the outfall point

And where does the offshore pumped energy get stored?

I admit to a total lack of ability to understand any of this frown

And I'm not a company director any more either

One idea I heard was to pump air to a balloon on the seabed.

Only in politics could that be an insult.

Ah

Somewhat like a rude chap's pants after a shepherds pie and beans supper...

Stored wind

amazing

I do wish I'd thought of it first, might have been some tax dodge in it somewhere.

As an aside in that report I did a rolleyes at this sentence:

A silver Ivor Williams trailer was also stolen from the site along with numerous other tools.
