Just a thought on who will succeed Nick as the Lib-Dem leader/Dep' Prime Minister. Perhaps either Danny Alexander who would appear to be quietly doing a great job or Vince Cable? Perhaps Vince has blown his trumpet rather too loudly. Now, I know that the overwhelming Conservative viewpoint in here will be 'we don't give a stuff', but should things go wrong for Nick then this subject could be a key choice for Lib-Dem supporters and Conservatives alike.

Going to have to deal with a party earning less votes than UKIP

Danny Alexander would seem a shoe in.

Someone younger/more pathetic/inexperienced/studenty than Milipede seems the general way things go. Cameron himself is getting a bit long in the tooth too, up for replacement soon no doubt.

Or possibly Sarah Teather.

She also reminds me of a slug, which probably flies well in Libdem circles.

If, as I suspect will happen, the Lib Dems still form the third largest party after the 2015 election, I'm really going to enjoy reminding you lot of how you wrote them off in 2011 biggrin

(Not a libdem voter by the way, just a studier of UK political history)

There is one key difference. For once Europe will not be hidden. The EU and the Euro will be on the front page of the news and finance sections for the next few years. The Lib Dems were wrong and Farage is right on Europe. As Euro nations collapse or further forced union takes place, and the UK doesn’t recover from recession, the movement will only be away from the Lib Dems.

It’s a shame as they are finally going through grown up party training smile .

They may well have more MPs than any other party (bar the big 2), UKIP won't win any seats in the next election with FPTP.

You are quite correct, I should have also said share of the vote above. Though it will be interesting to watch what the Lib Dems say when let off the leash nearer the election.

Quite, Europe is out of the closet, the only clearly identifiable Lib Dem policy is slavish devotion to the EU, at the moment that's a bit like dropping "oh by the way, couple of pints and I come over a bit rapey" into the conversation.

You're assuming it will be 2015. It may not but who can say?

Exactly - Lib Dems please take him off us! I'll take Clegg in exchange!

Yes, I wonder if Adrian Sanders has been sent to coventry by his fellow libdems for daring to vote for the referendum?

The Lib-Dems are truly swivel eyed eu-philes - read below for the full horror!

So ironic that an il-liberal, anti-democratic party has the name lib-dems. The power of words and idiot minds..

Exactly - and since AV/PR was kicked into touch for the next 20 years in the referendum earlier this year, UKIP and the rest of the hobbyists won't be getting a sniff of power for the foreseeable future.

The LibDems don't have any obvious 'Big Beast' as a stalking-horse for Clegg. Huhne is damaged goods, and I suspect Cable realises he doesn't have the energy required to keep the party together any more, if indeed he had it in the first place.
