A newspaper took on the crooked leader of the most powerful nation in the world and, after sterling work, brought him down. We have had, and still do, reporters who are willing to risk their lives, and in some case have died, to bring reports from the front line. Rather than the first casualty of war, we are getting reports showing just what it is like for out soldiers.

We have had newspapers who have reported on the phone hacking and corrupt police and politicians, bringing to our attention the state of this country's leaders. One newspaper exposed the corrupt nature of many, oh! so many, politicians who milk the system for all it is worth.

Journalists are a bulwark against corrupt and inept governments.

And then we have the Daily Mail and other tabloids.
