Please watch it to see the RAT suffering.Rats are dirty stinking vermin and I have enjoyed many fine scenes like this with my Border Terrier. Its natural behaviour for a terrier and i commend them for it!

Oh, I thought it was a fox!

Still, I like rats.

I have 6 of them. They can play fetch, spin on command etc...most chavs can't even do that.

Oh Dear I'm going to be in the s**t. My cat does the same to about 5 mice a week, and she often gives them to the dog who chomps them around before I kick her out as the squeaky noise gets on my wick. Does that mean I'm condoning cruelty and cat and dog fighting?

The Mail said:
The second clip showed two dogs belonging to Carter, Nobber and Rip, setting upon the fox which, shared in a trap, could not escape. Again, Byrne, who was, said Mr Eales, “the filmer”, is heard laughing in the background. He is also heard to comment: “He’s in his thorat, Now that’s the stuff.”
They had already caught the fox. The right thing to do would be to shoot it. Not enjoy a sick one sided fight.

Once in a while one of my colleagues catches a fox with the combine harvester. He says they rattle a bit when they go through.

It wasn’t the Terrier who was in the dock. It was the sick s who set the dog on the snared fox.

In making that comment are you condoning the actions of these men.

Yes, that is exactly what I was implying when I said a dog that is bred for hunting jumped at the chance to chew on something. What kind of moron would put a dog in the dock anyway?

You brought the dog up not me. The article and my post was about the actions of the men.

It's natural.

Border Terriers construct and weld their own traps regularly...its nature.

Not exactly 'sporting' to see the fox snared and set upon like that.

A bullet in (or club to) the head would have been kinder.

Agreed. I'm not a fan a foxes, we've lost too many chickens to them and they are not very nice in the way they go about it. They are feral dogs that need controlling - but it should be as humane as it would be with any other animal that society deems it appropriate to dispatch whether at the vets or for food.

ETA: I personally don't understand why snares remain legal, they really are primieval, there are traps which are much more humane that don't cost much and in the trap the animal can be humanely dealt with.
