Jim Sturman, QC, for Moran, urged a swift decision on the case, saying: "These proceedings are a continual threat to her life, not just to her liberty, and the experts agree that she is unfit to plead."

He said he would be making representations to the attorney general to apply for a "nolle", a rarely used power to allow discontinuation of the case on exceptional grounds.

He told the judge: "There has to come a time that, despite the serious nature of the offences, compassion is shown".

Describing Moran's mental state, Sturman referred to press reports of her previous appearance at Westminster magistrates court, describing her as a "broken woman" and of her "sobbing uncontrollably" in the dock
So, she blubs a bit and gets away with it?

A desperate tactic, but all she's got.

It won't work.

It's the only possible way out for her now, after the others got banged up.

If you've got one card, you have to play it.

It won't work. She'll be getting shanked in Holloway soon enough. Good.

She's saying she is sufficiently ill to not be able to make decisions, yes.

Shades of Ernest Saunders.....

Ernest Walter Saunders (born 21 October 1935) is a former British business manager, best known as one of the "Guinness Four", a group of businessmen who attempted to fraudulently manipulate the share price of the Guinness company. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, but released after 10 months as he was suffering with apparent Alzheimer's Disease. Moments after leaving prison he fully recovered......

To be fair though that is true of most MPs.

Still, let's hope it's ignored and she is put up against the wall.......

She's a vile creature for sure who treated people who challenged her excesses with utter contempt and no one despises her more than I.....but she's a wreck now and her life is in ruins, maybe enough is enough .

Shrug as much as you like.
The bottom line is that she was in a privileged position and decided to feather her own nest by illegally claiming for what she was not entitled to claim for.
QED.
No sympathy whatsoever, irrespective of tie colour.

Smegs, the law you are holding her to also allows compassion in the right situation, you can't switch it on and off.

I don't want to become involved in a flaming war with you.

Again...

No sympathy. She was caught at it. End of.

If you can't do the time...etc etc.

There's a time for compassion. Had she shown the slightest ounce of remorse when found out then I might have found some, not much but some. however she tried and tried to keep hold of everything that she'd stolen. It would have been easy to put her hand in her pocket, pay some back, admit she was wrong. But the thieving bh didn't take that choice.

So jail the bh.
