How dare these two idiots smash up other peoples cars. They are in the fantastic position of earning more money than most people can dream of, yet feel it ok to destroy other peoples property who have probably worked much harder and longer to buy.

fking fktards. Hope they get the book thrown at them, and some one smashes up their cars.

I'd guess the truth may be more "Hi jinx" than willful criminal damage. It's not just soccer players; remember the Welsh RUFC cap Andy Powell taking a golf buggy onto the M4 after post match celebrations?

All professional rugby players are idiots.

JJ Lehto just gone to prison, therefore all F1 drivers are idiots.

The list would be endless.

There not the first porfessional footballers to be nicked are they? Barely a week passes without one of them getting locked up for something, normally much more serious than criminal damage!

And no, I don't read the snail. smile

hehe

I meant to say it's not just soccer players that do daft things. I now see my comments could be misconstrued to provide the OP with an even wider brush to go tar with.

Well, it was more of a point showing how ridiculous it is to charge all with the behaviour of a minority.

I can think of no more than 5 or 6 well-known footballers who have been arrested in recent times (i.e. in the last year).

But yeah, pretty much a weekly thing isn't it. I won't even go near a stadium without my stab-vest and stun gun these days, it's total bedlam out there I tell ya!

To see if the OP has a point, I went to google news and entered the search string "sportsman arrested"

hits:

"SIBU: A BMX bike sportsman was among four men arrested yesterday for investigations into a string of snatching and picking of pockets."

"A prominent former rugby player has appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning charged with assaulting a child."

Proven beyond doubt. Case closed. Professional sportsmen & women should be banned.

Seeing cars that weren't burnt out or up on bricks probably had them confused.

Whilst I would agree with your logic - your really picked the wrong example here.

I don't see many demonstrable examples of footballers not being idiots.

Really? Do you know how many footballers are in the league? Are you really saying they are all idiots? Get real. Can you find me an example of Leighton Baines being an idiot? Phil Jagielka? Tim Howard? Jack Rodwell? These are just from one team.

Precisely.

92 clubs in the premier/football leagues. Conservative estimate of an average of 25 players per club (excluding youth teams/academies) so thats 2300 players.
Just because a few idiots make the headlines (some repeatedly) it doesn't make the whole game rotten.

My club has had 2 incidents in the last 20 years that I can remember, one involving a player who turned up at the training ground in his car half-pissed wearing nowt but his undercrackers...he was swiftly sold on at a loss and now plys his trade at a lower level. Most clubs won't stand for it, most supporters would rather not have knobheads at their club.

I did grimace when I heard it was Sunderland players...Martin O'Neill has just taken the managers job there and he's not a man whose wrath you'd look to incur! Can't see them lasting long there under him.

Craig Johnston - inventor of the Predator boot
Ian Dowie - M.Eng
Socrates - doctor of medicine
Robbie Fowler - successful property empire
Nigel De Jong - owner of a successful specialist car dealership rumoured to have earned him more than his football earnings
Guðni Bergsson - took up a career in law after retiring

And in the last year we've had probably 10 incidents in the press of (alleged) criminal behaviour.

How does 0.4% compare to the criminality of the general population over the course of a year? Sounds quite high to me...

That would be 0.4% of the 18 to 30 yr old male population, rather than the population as a whole though wouldn't it?
