Just when you think you have seen it all I saw this on sky news.

dressed as an exterminator spreyed a woman with flamable liquid and burns her alive.

(CNN) -- Police in New York are looking for a man who doused a woman with a flammable liquid and lit her on fire, killing her, in the elevator of a Brooklyn apartment building Saturday.

Neighbors said the woman was returning home to her fifth floor apartment in Prospect Heights after a grocery store trip.

When the elevator arrived, the man -- dressed as an exterminator -- sprayed her with an unidentified liquid, set her alight and then fled, police said.

I've ceased to be surprised by awful things like this, but this is especially horrible.

Are there any "not nasty" murders?

Unbelievable lack of humanity. The same should be done to him.

Does/did he know her?

It's certainly not a nice way to murder someone.

I'm with Eric. Is there a nice way to be murdered?

If I was going to be murdered a large caliber rifle round to the noggin is "nicer" than being burned alive or stabbed to death up close and personal.

This one does seem bizarre, seems like a lot of trouble to go to.

And seems like a "I want to make you regret this", which is why I wondered if he knew the victim...... I have my suspicions..

Make of this what you will, but on the Guardian this article was not accompanied by a photograph even though it's mentioned that the 'Police released still images of the man on Saturday night'.

Needless to say I wasn't shocked when I went elsewhere and found said still images...

U.S News sources suggest they knew each other.

I realise now my previous comment was a touch incendiary.

I really don't want to get into a flame war on the topic.

Forgiven, it was probably one of those heat of the moment replies.

I'd prefer not to have to make such a choice.

It does seem odd. He apparently managed to burn himself on the arms and face. Not the brightest of hitmen.

The police identified the victim as Doris Gillespie, 64, and pronounced her dead at the scene. One neighbor said that Ms. Gillespie was a postal worker.

What on earth would a man like that need revenge on an old postal woman ? its not like hes getting revenge on a homey because of a crack deal gone wrong
