Would something like this have a serial number on it or something like that? So the manufacturer could tell who they sold them to originally? Or do weapons not really work like that?

Might make good fireworks though, so not entirely inaccurate.

Hmmm I'm guessing somebody was making a lot of money out of this deal.

Probably the CIA smile

anyway I'm sure I read soomewhere they dont work. during the Iraq war 100% of the scuds fired still landed and exploded their payloads.

Interesting topic, I like many thought that the Patriot was some kind of wonder weapon. Info on several sites indicates otherwise.

Basic propaganda. It's not like we're gonna say our military kit is a load of st in a time of conflict.

AFIk in IW1 the patriot was a SAM press-ganged into being an anti balistic missile, since then it has been tweaked a whole lot to be more suited to purpose

I'd quite like to get my hands on one. There's a weekend microlight jockey down my way who is getting on my thruppeny bits.

Yup - clean it, and do try not to drop it on the butt, whilst made ready seemed to work for me.

I did hear a rumour that a lot of the Gulf 1 problems were down to the PC at either end not being synchronised.

Can't remember (or find at the minute) the details, but there was a massive cock-up (thats a technical term!) in the engagement algorithms as discovered when the Israelis fired one against an incoming SCUD.

The patriot that destroyed one of our Tornados in GW1 seemed to operate as usually expected for US systems.... RIP that crew. frown

It worked very well against an American F/A-18 a few weeks later as well. RIP to it's crew.
