So the wife can't work and his work dried up 10 years ago (but can't retrain), yet in the middle of all that they decided to have an extra child.

+1. The dad should also man up and tell the teenage kids that if they want a mobile phone they should pay for it themselves.

This boils my piss. Get another fking job then you useless sod. ANECDOTE: The unemployed guy who used to live next to me used to always go on about the Polish who took away his plastering work, fair enough they do generally work for less money. However a massive new Sainsbury's opened near our building. Less than 5 mins walk, probably about 3, you can see it from my kitchen window. Did he apply for a job there?

Did he fk.

Great, so they 'get' nearly £100 a week more than me doing 40hrs a week. I don't have Sky either or smoke!

So his area of expertise has dried up? Is he not capable of retraining or taking unskilled work?

And I notice the Mrs is 'disabled' with the trendy but unprovable tag that many doleys claim to have.

They are a typical caricature.

Don't know how they manage.

Perhaps I could get a couple of the chaps on site who earn £11.00 an hour for a 47.5 hour week and pay tax on that to let them know.

If their benefits were cut they would have to make whatever cut backs they had to to survive.

Sounds like a good career move, being on benefits.

Exactly, that's astounding. Get down a good local butcher and on your local market and you could cut half and eat better.

For a start they can cut:
Food (£120)
Shows (?£10)
Booze (£15)
Fags (£50)
Sky (£15)
Mobile (£30) - buy cheap PAYG and use landline for outgoing, so say £2 per week

That's £240 a week for a start.

At first glance i thought those figures were per month, not per week!!!

Who the hell spends £240/week on food shopping and £32/week on mobile phones?!

If you have:

Sky TV
Entertainment Packs
Sky Entertainment Extra
Premium Packs
Movies 1
Movies 2
Sports 1
Sports 2
HD Pack

It's about that.

And 24 cans of lager a week? wow, and I thought I was a heavy drinker!

Perhaps he was thinking about the possibility of retraining as a sexeducational software writer,

or he mistakenly went for the easy pink rather than his usual preference of the difficult brown one night after several of his weekly 24 cans lager hehe

I also missed this:

Last week I purchased 7 meals of meat for 3 people from our local butcher for £20 without even trying to budget. Buy outside of premium steak and you can eat very well indeed.

So basically he's saying it's not her fault she's spending £50 a week mad

Astounding

Other £91 - Will give benefit of doubt on this.
Entertainment £20 -Certainly NOT essential so £5 (rent a movie once a week)
Phone+Internet £7 - OK, could be cut but will leave as is
Water Rates £15 - OK
Sky TV £15 - Certainly NOT essential
Council Tax £18 - OK.
Public transport £30 - OK.
Mobiles £32 - Certainly NOT essential.
Energy bill £38 - OK
Rent £76 - OK (Bargain actually! biggrin)
Weekly shopping £240 - £150 (£50/60 must be fags/booze at least).
So, current weekly total is £582.
Savings made, total is £430 - that's £150 saved, easily, per week.

The cap is £82 less, so that's still nigh on £70 a week more than they "really" need.
