A friend of mine approached Boris yesterday outside the GLA about a local issue and received a hint of Dr Evil from Boris!

What the hell is wrong with Russell. Did his parents not teach him about manners?

How can he expect Boris or anyone else for that manner to either listen to him or take anything he says in when he is more interested in the sound of his own voice.

Amazed Boris stuck around and stayed so calm though i suppose he has grown a thick skin after having to put up with people like Russell on a regular basis.

When you've spent six months trying to get the message through to the Mayor's office I think it's understandable that when you manage to actually get the attention of the person who is about to go into a meeting and decide on the 7 year construction project that's on your doorstep every second counts.

Still no excuse for talking over someone when they are trying to respond. I would be much less inclined to engage with Russell than with someone who asked a question and then shut their mouth and let me respond.

His efforts/rudeness have been worth it though. This afternoon network rail have withdrawn their planning application.
In the 8 minute video from se1 news you would hear Boris telling Russell that his lawyers have advised that he must approve the project, yet after this confrontation Boris has actually looked carefully at the application.
For anyone that uses the London Bridge area the application that had already been approved by southwark council was going to demolish what's left of the first train station in the capital, do nothing to ease the gridlocked tube system at London Bridge, and close significant parts of the road network for up to 5 years with no plan to re route traffic.

Looked at the pictures and it looks like they want to tear down some ugly, derelict building and put up a fancy new one? What exactly am I missing and why I that rude, awful man wanting it stopped?

Yup his complete lack of manners have been worth it beyond doubt. Telling boris of his problema nd then letting him respond wouldnt have had the same result.

It also wouldnt have had the effect of making boris even less inclined to react with and assist others who behaved in the way that your chum did.
