Given that Germany has said it will agree to Eurobonds in return for fiscal union, it seems that the solution to the Euro crisis could be a European superstate. The UK would then have to renegotiate its relationship with Europe as it's OK to be a half-hearted member of a loose coalition of countries but you are either completely in or completely out of a superstate. So, if the UK stands aside from Europe completely what would the ramifications be?
It would depend on the nature of the free trade agreements.
If superstate were to replace the current EU then we would have some trade issues to deal with. If the superstate came in to existance by merging a number of countries in to one then we (should) just have a free trade area with fewer members. We could call it to Common Market and have a referendum on staying in followed by deja-vu...
