Stevenage Lottery Ticket...
Discussion
Could not see a thread on this, so apologies if a pea-rost.
There is apparently lottery ticket brought in Stevenage that has won almost £64 million that runs out at 11 pm tonight.
Just heard a debate on Radio 2 about where the money will be distributed to good causes should it not be claimed (which I suspect is almost certainly what will happen).
A local business leader is saying that the money should be given to good causes in the Stevenage area, because that is where the money would be spent... I cannot say I'm convinced....

More likely the winner would be able to get the f
k out of Stevenage and spend it anywhere but there....onyx39 said:

I obviously didnt spot the Sunseeker and Lamborghini sales offices when I last went through Stevenage.....Big Fat Fatty said:
If it's not claimed then it should go back into the Lottery fund and given to causes wherever it's needed. Why should it stay in Stevenage just because the ticket was bought there? It may have been someone just travelling through.
They had one of the bigwigs from Camelot saying just that... the lady who was saying that the the money should go locally was saying that they "could not afford to run their Air Ambulance at weekends, we have to use the Essex one"tbc said:
could be some poor pensioner struggling to keep warm which makes you think
I was thinking that... or someone who dropped dead at the shock of winning? although presumably, they would have been found, ticket in hand.tbc said:
would be funny if some guy was holding out until 10 minutes before the deadline just to be an arse
That would be brillant...and then NOT go public!tbc said:

I seriously doubt it. Could you really wait for 6 months knowing that at any point all you had to do was ring a number and get your 63M? I would be on the phone within seconds of knowing I had won. 30 mins later I would be on the phone to Ron Dennis to find me a F1 and 1hr later I would be out of the country. As I was stuck on the A1 this morning(for 2hrs because of a flurry of snow...) I was listening to Chris Evans going on about this. He was thinking Stevenage and Hitchen must be a little place with just one shop. Yeh, right!!!
He gave the lottery man a bit of a roasting for not coming out with which shop had sold it but I suppose they have to be secretive about these things for fraud reasons? He even mentioned they should be able to use the shop cctv to identify who bought the thing in the first place!
Most of Stevenage look the same anyway.

They will ask anyone who claims where and when they got it,to prove they didn't nick it,or if they have lost the thing(plus a LOT of other questions if the latter) I think, that's why the shop is kept secret.
I suppose they might do that with any winner, makes sense, not that I am likely to find out
