First, cowardly scum, fine if you want to nick a car (well not fine but it's just a car), but to hold an axe to a 9yr olds throat for it? Absolute scum bags.

Second, they nicked a Nissan pulsar Gti-r? Dopes! They are a right load of tat, they will make no money out of it if they don't kill themselves with the chocolate brakes.

Hope when they are caught and get very long sentences, everyone has a god laugh over their choice of car for such a vicious attack.

A Pulsar GTiR is a lot of things, but tat is not one of them.

The scum will get let off on some bull conditional discharge.

Not convinced they will get off so lightly to be honest (comparatively speaking, I'd cut off their hands personally).

No insight into legal matters but holding an axe to a kids throat takes this to another level.

Here mate, I think you may have dropped your tin foil hat. It's right next to your copy of the Daily Mail.

Do you have any grounds for that speculation whatsoever?

Likewise. Who would describe (potentially) having their kid's throat slashed with an axe as "cutting him" unless it's the kind of thing he talks about all the time?

He took the unusual step of personally appearing on the news and making a personal statement to the burglars, calling them cowardly scum and not real men......
Fair play to him, but yes you could be right.

"said his son no longer wanted to live in the house "

anyone else thinking this is possibly social housing?

Listening to the guy being interviewed on Five Live now. He described it calmly as being "very well planned".

For some inexplicable reason, the alarm bells on my suspicious-st-o-meter are ringing.

I would be entirely unsurprised to find out that the burglars and the burglee have or had a "business" relationship which has somewhat lost its shine.

Seems OTT for a Nissan. Four people to get a car worth not a lot. Raiding a home and getting away with a new Range Rover and a 911 and a stack of cash and gold from some Football players home, and I might see why they think it worth the risk.

Yes because the first thought a 9 year old victim of a traumatic violent crime thinks is how to get some benefit upgrade out of it.

ffs.

No one's imputing anything to the nine-year-old... but if one were cynical, and if that nine year old's father were particularly cynical, the child's unwillingness to live in the house might help with rehousing points for the local authority.

Remember these? No conviction yet but the prosecution thought it was sufficiently plausible.

The father is a self employed property developer with 2 cars not a dole about in a council house

It may surprise some powerfully built directors on this forum that some people value their children's lives more than material concerns.

I do find the fact that they demanded "the cash" a bit odd. There also doesn't seem to be any description of the robbers - height, weight, ethnicity.

However, there is simply no excuse for holding an axe to the throat of a child, and that alone should get them sentences of 10+ years.

Burglee? Is that a word? Sounds a bit camp.

Don't jump on a bandwagon thats not there.

He is quite a wealthy property developer, thats why he was a target. AFAIK it's a Nissan GT-R.

I wasn't jumping on any bandwagon

Poster suggested that the victim was using his sons trauma to get a council house upgrade which I don't see any evidence of in the story and was remarking that god forbid the guy might have actually be telling the truth about being scared witless.

People will do a lot more for a lot less. Desperate times for some, and all they know is robbery/theft etc

Some friends of mine were burgled last year - wife was tied up with cable ties and repeatedly punched in the face. They broke her arm too.

Culprits have not been found.

There are some lovely people around.
