Just heard on the news that Tony Gubba has died.

He was still comentating on dancing on ice up until a few weeks ago.

That is sad news.

I always liked Tony's reports.

69 is no age at all. Another familiar face and voice that will be missed.

Part of my growing up tapestry.
Great voice and so synonymous with so many sports, I loved his warmth and he always seemed to have a great enthusiasm for what ever he did.

That's a real shame, grew up listening to his match reports in the 70's and 80's. A far more coherent and a less excitable version of Motty.

He was only a very average commentator, particularly compared to the likes of Barry Davies.... But I did OB work a few times on gigs that Tony was working on, and he was a delightfully friendly chap, which made a pleasant change from some.

RIP Tony.

Is it wrong that all I can think of now is Antonios Gubba from the Fast Show?
