Tornado near Oklahoma City appears to be causing some serious damage if the scenes on Sky News are anything to go by.

Looks very nasty.

Looks like a serious one, likely more on the way too.

Worrying that there's collapsed school buildings, hope they got enough warning to get to safety.

This was a chunk of a town...

Holy crap that was a massive one, reporter on the BBC said it may have been 2 miles wide at one point! Let's hope everyone got into shelters in time.

Some of the footage is reminiscent of the aftermath of the Japanese Tsunami.

yes exactly what I was about to post.

CNN have coverage from a local station on the ground. Emergency Services are pulling kids out of one of the schools with at least 15 reported to be trapped.

News reports are suggesting that this may be the worst tornado yet recorded.

2 schools were directly hit. It's a Fujita EF5. Looks like this may be worse than what hit Joplin, MO.

Reporting that 75 kids could have been in the school when it was flattened.

The previous record was in exactly the same location in 1999 from what I understand, it was reputed to be the most powerful Tornado ever recorded anywhere on earth. This certainly looks to be up there with that one.

I hope the casualties are minimal and everyone gets out safe, difficilt to see how they will be though frown
I'm sitting in a bar right now and it's on all the TVs. They're saying 51 dead including 7 children at an elementary school frown

This is the part of the country, actually the planet where these things hit. But it's still painful to watch.

I am sure your witty remark will be of some consderable comfort for the parents of the 5 year olds still missing in the school that was hit.

Brother drove by Moore yesterday on his way back to Wichita, Kansas before it happened. Terifying. There was a tornado in Sedgewick County on Sunday in Kansas as well, but he was in Dallas competing in a Rugby tournament.

Can't wait for this storm system to dissipate so we can stop worrying about him.

Can only hope there are no more deaths.
