Read it right through, what is your take/opinion on this subject?

I like boris, but hes talking ste there.

Nuclear power is not, and never will be, the right way forward.

Fukushima is still fking up even now. Yes, I know we dont have earthquakes here, but terrorism, mechanical failure, human error etc. The variables are too great for something to go wrong with nukes, and you only get once shot at getting it right, every time.

Not to mention the comission and decomission costs.

There's plenty of wind in this country anyway. I don't think we should be wasting electricity running these huge things to blow us more.

I've always wondered how a windmill can ever save enough money to justify the cost of erecting it and ongoing maintenance, ever.

Agree 100% with Boris on this one. They only have a 15 year lifespan and now the govt has dropped the energy grants many of the operators won't be able to afford to renew them - hopefully. Percentage contribution to energy production is miniscule and they are the ultimate blot on the landscape. Too many people employed in the 'green' industry, it's based too much on politics and not enough on facts.

Nuclear was the answer years ago, but has been put off so much that by the time it comes round to getting any power out of any new nuclear power stations that they build (yeah right) we'll have already spent 10 years in the dark ages again.

And Chernobyl and Fukishima scaremongers can fk off and all, we're not a 1980's soviet bloc country, nor do we get 40m high tsnami's after earthquakes.

Whilst I don't consider wind turbines to be a sensible way to make abundant electricity, I don't see them as a blight on the landscape either.

About 200 years ago someone maybe a fellow called boulton invented
a thing called the steam engine , thus saving people from unreliable and intermittent
Wind power . sadly this has been forgotten and morons decided it would
be a good idea to reinvent this failed technology ,A pox on them !!!!

There was a program a few years ago following the trials and tribulations of a proposed site in the south west. I think the woman's view, the one leading some consortium to get a load built, she summed it up for me in her attitude. Think there was a vague bit about saving the world but it came across a something to make money. Sort of "shut up, we know what is good for you" whilst they rubbed their hands with the expected windfall.

A few around here seem to hammered home under the pretence of saving the world and god (or any deity you believe in) forbid, councillors seem to have some say, the same ones that could not find their arse with a map but know the expense rules inside out.

There is something in me that says we need to take the advocates of such devices and dangle them from a bit of rope over a windy mill and let their devices l rid us of this vermin.

Nuclear is definitely part of the answer; 6 decades of civil nuclear power generation in the UK, with no deaths and no significant release of contamination into the environment. That's a good bet as far as I can see.

Really? I can't bear seeing them across swathes of what was once beautiful countryside.

There is not one single instance where a wind turbine has improved the landscape.

IMO Boris is spot on. Wind 'power' is a scam, as soon as the subsidies stop they'll be ripped down for the scrap value.
