Indeed there are. My father was an Archdeacon in the CofE and responsible for buildings in part of his employment. Regularly went up on roofs and steeples to see the missing lead and received warm praise from the steeplejacks who did not expect clergymen to be up for this. It is sad but the low life doing this are desperate and selfish generally. Quick fix needed and society is required to provide it. Has been the case for a very long time and most churches are regularly locked because of it.

There's been a lot of lead theft too over the last few years as metal prices have been high. Disgraceful.

They steal anything metal and churches are not exempt. Drain covers and even Georgian and Victorian wall-mounted letter boxes.

Isn't theft of lead from church roofs a really, really old form of metal theft?

Apparently the statue has been returned but has a curious smile on her face and has lost all her magic powers.
