Apologies it's a daily fail link but the whole article smacks of her trying to get some compo from nandos, they've already offered her vouchers which she has turned down, I imagine if they offered her cash she would take that in a heart beat.

The article states:

'I was in shock and started crying in the restaurant. I cried all night and couldn’t sleep.'

'She was so distraught after eating the chicken she unsuccessfully tried to make herself sick when she got home.'

'She was also still distressed the next day and was allowed to go home early from her job as placements officer at the University of Birmingham.'

You ate a bit of fking chicken, it can't have been so distressing you needed to cry all night and leave work early the next day, sounds like milking it for all it's worth to me.

The article also states:

'I can feel it sitting there in my stomach. I feel like it’s not my body anymore. They took away my choice about what to put in my body and now I can’t ever say that I have never eaten meat. I have devoted myself to this for 28 years and someone has taken this away from me.'

Now the above I can understand to some extent because it is her choice and it was taken away from her but in what world does a chicken pitta taste or have the same feel in the mouth as a grilled halloumi cheese pitta.

The guys at work think I'm being insensitive, I think the blame sits partly with her for not checking her food (I have no dietary requirements but always check I've got what I ordered) partly with nandos and not purely with nandos as she is making out.

Im not a vegetarian my self but i can understand somebody who has been one for 28 years and has very strong beliefs about not eating meat getting psychology and emotionally screwed by accidentally eating it. If i found out i accidentally ate horse penis id react the same way and i bet she feels the same way about meat as i do about horse penis.

They can never say or do anything to make this up to me. Nothing can compensate me for those 28 years.

There's one thing I don't understand. Lets say she is damaged psychologically/emotionally, does a wedge of cash suddenly fix that ?

I think that if you have been a committed, lifelong veggie then accidentally eating chicken/meat would be very distressing.
That said, in the story it says that she ate MOST of her Pitta before she realised that it wasn't cheese…. Now that does strike me as odd, because even with lashings of salad and Piri Piri sauce I doubt many people would mistake grilled chicken for haloumi..

I feel for her slightly.
If she has been a lesbian for 28 years then it's a massive deal to her whether we think it should be or not.
But speaking for myself if I was going to be a lesbian like her then I would make sure I looked at my food when it came, particularly if I was going to be such a dick about accidentally eating meat. That's the equivalent of someone with a life threatening nut allergy eating their way through a bag of peanuts and then whining about having ordered a salad and not peanuts.
Silly vegan idiot

'I trusted them and they let me down'

After 28 years of strict vegetarianism, you placed your trust in Nados- effectively KFC with cutlery- and didn't think to look at your food, as you 'weren't paying attention as I was talking to my friend'?

What a fking idiot.

She'll live. Mistakes happen. She should stop being so silly over it and accept the restaurant's apology.
On the other hand people that deliberty try to trick vegetarians into eating meat are s.

I've never heard of anyone trying to trick a vegetarian into eating meat. It must be some kind of offence to do so but other than "being a " I can't think what it would be.
