I'm really offended
Discussion
I'd put my money on the offended person in question never being asked and someone outside of that group assuming offence.
For example, a school chooses to host a "Winter Festival" rather than Christmas so as not to offend non-Christian people. In fact, no one would be offended by the Christmas festival, but others have assumed they would be offended, and thus tried to mitigate it. Helping nobody.
I'm (very unobservantly) Jewish and the amount of times I've received "seasons greetings" when everyone else gets Christmas ones, or been given a vegetarian meal by default, despite me having no opposition to a good pork sausage, is staggering. No one actually asks, they just assume.

The vast majority is made up because the ignorant need something to fear.

I agree with your comment, but from what I just read, Winterval doesn't seem to be design to hide Christmas/not to offend, but just to include over events and festivities during the winter months. The vast majority is made up because the ignorant need something to fear.
