Personally I agree, a number of agencies use online submissions of evidence and a mediator to come to an agreement which avoids the courts.
This avoids overuse of time, money and the courts workload.
An example would be the deposit protection schemes, I have used one in the past when an unfair landlord took my entire deposit and said they "lost" the itemised bill. The deposit agency quite rightly sided with me and I was given the entire deposit back. It was still a long process but only cost me a few pounds (which was required by law as I had to have a solicitor witness me signing a letter).
Seems a good way to resolve disputes with a mediator, think of all those people who argue about their garden boundary and the money the spend.

Reminds me of this I saw the other day: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/legal-s...
I wonder if this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31653760 is the start of it?
