As the americans would say, pork barrel UK style? It's such a waste of money, if commuters in London want to see trees then they only have to go home and walk their dog in the suburbs.
It reminds me of the Dubai vanity projects so much.

a corrupt waste of money by the looks of things . never mind, the deputy mayor will be able to keep him company in his new job as she also landed a job with arup . It's such a waste of money, if commuters in London want to see trees then they only have to go home and walk their dog in the suburbs.

If built it'll just be a more picturesque night time dogging and cottaging site.
Private Eye have been banging on about this for some time, despite promises of free access by the public, access will be strictly restricted and controlled; daytime only, limited numbers allowed on at any time and it'll be closed when private events are in progress.drivetrain said:

This isn't a surprise is it? Who honestly thought the process wasn't bent?
This is all hype and exaggeration. I feel certain that this project is no more corrupt or dishonest, no more backhanders were given, than any other expensive project run by local councils. Anyone who says otherwise has never read Private Eye nor had anything to do with such things. The suggestion that a project which, at £175,000, was picked above rivals, none of which exceeded £125,000, or that an inexperienced designer was chosen over those much more experienced is in any way unusual just shows these people don't know what the= are talking about.

Luckily, London is getting a garden bridge that isn't just a vanity project. The Peckham Coal Line.

It is south of the river though, so I'm not sure Boris will want to go there.

Gnoming - google turned up squat, apart from stealing peoples garden gnomes

You're welcome ;-)
