Bit of a misleading thread title perhaps?

"A would-be car salesman earned himself £2,000-worth of fines - after using the street outside his house as his forecourt."

Why should a car dealer be allowed to sell 20 cars from residential street? If you have that many cars for sale then you need business premisis to store them.

I'm with the council on this one.

Would you be happy if your neighbour parked 20 cars on the street outside his and your house?

As much as I hate Nottingham City Council's stance towards motorists, I can't say that I have a problem with the case listed.

Parking 20 cars on your street that you are trying to sell is frankly taking the piss IMO.

Very misleading thread title. Surely it should be "Nottingham Council deal with idiotic bedroom trader", or something similar.

Essentially a bedroom trader type seller has been caught clogging up the local road(s) with various cars that he has for sale and been taken to task over it. I don't really see a problem with the Council enforcing that tbh.

Easy solution really - he should either have a business premises to store / sell them at, like other traders do, or alternatively store them at a secure storage yard, again like a lot of other smaller traders seem to do nowadays.

Would you be happy if your neighbour started storing 20+ cars outside your house OP?

Absolutely right, I live on a single track road and a neighbour makes life hell with his buying and selling, you often have to park on the main road because of him.

What income do councils get from petrol prices?

None. Green policy to reduce car use. Which is just total bs to raise more cash. Theorie being fuel less more car journeys so make parking more equal less car journeys.

Marxist councils need to be next on the list, but, in the case of the OP, they seem to have acted correctly.
