The official National Lottery app has been withdrawn with this message:

The app previously allowed you to scan your ticket with a QR code scanner built in, and tells you if youve won or not

Seems it's not been telling the truth and people have potentially thrown away wining tickets.

I smell a scandals here.

I bet it's not been checking people's raffle ticket entries.

I gave up on the app fairly quickly as it wouldn't stay logged in and typing my details in every time was a faff compared with doing it via my phone browser which remembers my username and password. That said, I wonder if people who buy online (not using the app) have potentially won something and not been notified too?

The recent app with the QR scanner didn't need log in details. You just pointed your camera at your ticket and it supposedly told you whether you won or not. Seems they are not aware of how many times its told winner that they've not won. My ticket is in the bin within seconds of being scanned so Camelot's advice on rechecking your tickets is bks quite frankly.

Can't remember when I last bought a physical ticket. Always been notified of wins via email but if the issue relates to the 'millionaire raffle' maybe online customers are affected too.

I think its laughable the amount of info they've released on this.

When did the problem start?
How many draws affected?
How many tickets remain unclaimed?

Telling people to go re-check their tickets - but from when, how long? And really, saying you can claim if you suspect you've won but thrown the ticket away - under what circumstances are they going to approve claims in this scenario?

I always wondered about this being completely infallible...It's massively more convenient than typing numbers into the site though & I would've thought more reliable than my typing skills when I use the site.

Question though - there was a sanity check you could do. After triggering the Qr scan, you could ask to "see the results" or something which then displayed the numbers drawn, your chosen numbers below & highlighted any matches, just like the site. I always used to check this against my ticket. Are they saying that even this sanity check is flawed? If I can physically see what was on my ticket & compare that to what they say was drawn (on the app), I'm fully checked...aren't I?

Or are they saying that the numbers shown as the drawn numbers have been wrong? (I never checked what the app said against the website)
