Tin foil hats at the ready ... I am quite intrigued about this article and yes I know the Sun is hardly a heavyweight legit paper but the extract from the self taught language is fascinating

"But the robots rapidly modified the English using code words and repetitions to make conversation easier for themselves — creating a gibberish language that only they understood.

One exchange went:

Bob: i can i i everything else . . .

Alice: balls have zero to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to.

Bob: you i everything else . . . .

Alice: balls have a ball to me to me to me to me to me to me to me.

Researchers pulled the plug when they realised what was happening."

It's interesting stuff.

However as I understand it the researchers didn't pull the plug because they were doing this and were going to take over the world... but because they weren't supposed to be doing what they were designed / intended to do.

I would laugh so much if Robots invaded the RAC forum.

It would be hard to tell the difference from the other members

FMR - they're only one pronoun away from becoming The Chuckle Brothers.

Do you mean sentient or sentimental beings?

Or are you referring to 'The Sentinel' by Arthur C. Clarke?

Good old HAL smile

sentient - thx

William Hertling author of Avogadro Corp: The Singularity Is Closer Than It Appears, A.I. Apocalypse

Great reads and scary as fek. A lot more scary then Zombies - so I'm not worried about zombie proofing the garden now just having a kill switch and baseball bat to hand....
