This Cuba "sonic attack" story is truly bizarre.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/14/myst...

article said:
Sound and health experts are equally baffled. Targeted, localized beams of sound are possible, but the laws of acoustics suggest such a device would probably be large and not easily concealed. Officials said it’s unclear whether the device’s effects were localized by design or due to some other technical factor.
And no single, sonic gadget seems to explain such an odd, inconsistent array of physical responses.
“Brain damage and concussions, it’s not possible,” said Joseph Pompei, a former MIT researcher and psychoacoustics expert. “Somebody would have to submerge their head into a pool lined with very powerful ultrasound transducers.”
Other symptoms have included brain swelling, dizziness, nausea, severe headaches, balance problems and tinnitus, or prolonged ringing in the ears. Many victims have shown improvement since leaving Cuba and some suffered only minor or temporary symptoms.

Aside from the poor buggers getting attacked here... the science is potentially fascinating.

Bats. Freakishly huge, monster bats. That's what my money is on.

Sonic interference is a field not well researched.
If you have a low frequency emiitter then the more difficult to achieve frequencies are altered at the point of contact.
I did some work a few years ago on the result of interference of ultrasonic and subsonic waves. Research was halted and presumably continued.

There's a clip on Youtube from an old episode of Tomorrow's World where they demonstrate this, the guy from MIT who had developed it said he'd mess with the caterers when they were carrying stuff by beaming it by their feet and making sounds of smashing glass causing them to look about to see what had dropped.

Smiler.

It's obvious what's going on really, everyone knows that Castro was an agent in MIB

May be a poison/sickness, some sort of brain swelling illness (or biological weapon) could cause it?

When I got a bad bout of flu and blocked sinuses, and associated labrynthitis it was a lot like the above. Not a very natural experience at all, it felt like I was going mad!

Seems to be odd timing considering relations between the US and Cuba had been improving.

Yep. Canadian diplomats have also reported similar symptoms and the Cubans have had good relations with the Canadians for quite a long time now.

Its probably just the local food and water, just a Cuban dehli belly. Which clears up when they go home to the usual food and water.

The mystery has apparently been solved, in part at least.

“Mystery illness suffered by US diplomats in Cuba was most likely caused by directed microwave radiation, a US government report has found.
The report by the National Academies of Sciences does not attribute blame for the directed energy waves.
But it said research into the effects of pulsed radio frequency energy was carried out by the Soviet Union more than 50 years ago.
The illnesses first affected people at the US embassy in Havana in 2016-17.”

Interesting. Although I would have thought that such a thing would be pretty easily detectable, and consequently the source identified. Seems odd that it supposedly hasn’t been.
