Cant believe this hasn't been posted - was sure it was a spoof/hack but it looks real.

Quite a punchy marketing approach !

Not really, each business will advertise in a way that entertains its target audience.

It's Poundland not M&S smile

I suppose Poundland believe that any publicity is a good thing. They may be right, but I just don't see what these images have to do with their stores, and I just think "hmm, Poundland, yeah this all confirms that they're a bit rubbish". I'm not offended by the images however, but I'm an adult - are such images appropriate where seen by children?

+1

A cracking take on the 'Elf on the Shelf' nonsense that's been doing peoples' heads in on social media. I approve wholeheartedly.

In these days of faux-offense, the campaign may backfire.

Also, a lot of the Pound-store industry is struggling at the moment. Shoppers have realised they are no longer as cheap as they once were. This could look to some like a desperate roll of the dice to recapture fading attention.

I was watching it unfold last night and I think the highlight was when someone tweeted a complaint about the advert "promoting violence to women" to "KentPD" KentPD replied that they were a Police dept. in the US so she might want to complain to someone closer to home.

Not laughed like that in ages, As an advertising campaign I would have been oblivious in normal circumstances but the complaints and the response to them was excellent.

Even Twinings released a statement regarding the T bag one.

The teabag advert is ace! I would expect that a large percentage of poundland customers don't use twitter though!

They might find that number of customers who are also twitter users increases after this latest campaign though! Which is probably what they were hoping for.

When you complain on the internet, make sure there's nothing they can pull you up on...

Very funny - but Twinning's tea aren't exactly happy.

This was the original image.

The new one - has the Twinning's box edited out (badly)

Most are a bit crap, but the teabagging one is ace, all them more for the CEO of Twinings being "outraged". LOLOLOL
