BBC said:
Elaina Beard, 29, from Bridgwater, is believed to have got out of a car involved in the four-vehicle smash on the northbound carriageway at about 06:20 GMT.

She was hit by several vehicles on the opposite carriageway, police said.
She got out of the car, and walked into oncoming traffic?

Concussion, dazed, didn't realise where she was or what side of the road she walking on to?

Yep, maybe just saw a barrier and wanted to get the other side of it without realising it's the opposite carriageway.

How sad for all involved.

I was wondering how that could have happened. If her car had spun then she would have assumed the "left" barrier was safe.

Very sad.

There's far more to this than immediately meets the eye. Friend was caught up in this on Friday and has heard that someone deliberately drove into the central reservation then hit the cars coming the other way. One woman got out of her car & was then hit by more cars, at least two of which didn't stop.

Twaddle.

Central reservations won't be penetrated by a car. In fact the harder you hit it the harder you'll be sent back into your own lane. Or flip. Unless you know where a cross over barrier might have been removed but really, all that to chance hitting a car with the right person in coming the other way???

Getting hit by design from a car drivers point of view to hitting a pedestrian on a motorwa is very hard. Think about it the other way, as I'm sure we all have done, you are blattingh along at 40, 50, 60 and just as the car in front passes over a pothole having straddled it miod axle, you realise your line is going to tt on of your wheels in it, you think about breaking, you strat to think which way to steer,BANG, too late you've just cracked an alloy.

On of our Project Managers (around 2001, driver a Pa.. S....) if anyone wants to google the case hit a person on the M56 one night. The person [notes found later suggested intertionally] walked from the Hard Shoulder, in front of lorries in lane 1 & 2 whom both started breaking, as PS started to wondering why on a quiet, clear motorway at 9m pm both vehicles next to him had started to slow...he felt a bump and a few seconds later smelt a smell that let him know something wasn't right. Said walkee had basically got trapped somehow on the front / under engie of the car and was been stripped / cooked alive (their intention it turned out, but perhaps hoping for a quicker impact).

9 months the police investigation took to clear him - the person was so close to the vehicle the Dashcam picked him up in 1 / 2 frames due to field of view (1/12 of a second - a lot less than a drivers reaction time).

Anyway, the rumour in Somerset is indeed strange, the lady is / was against a big development in Bridgewater so maybe so developers have taken her out? Or it was a car crash?

It doesn't all add up right, I know. I think the person that iinitiated the crash was the person that wanted to end it all but whatever the circumstances, they are now still alive while an innocent caught up in the whole incident is not.
