I would like to assure friends learned and unlearned that this isn't me.

(...but I sort of wish it was.)

The lust-crazed litigators even had written contracts with limits and safewords. #lawyers

I got the impression he was the spanker, rather than than "spankee"....
I understand the higher the pecking order in the judicial system, the more like they are to be the "spankee" though...

Yup, he is reported as topping.

There is a stereotyped view that very successful blokes (that is not this bloke, BTW) are likely to be submissive in the bedroom, but there seems no reliable data to confirm this. Ditto assertive and confident women - there is no standard pattern with such things, AFAIK.

That is classic Sun. They manage to get a photo of Trinity and a photo of Stormy Daniels into an article about a desperately sad little story.

Never heard of the tautologously named Lexlaw. Looks to be a pretty low-rent organisation.

According to Plimsoll (abeit 2016) you should have heard of them.

Mind you, nothing like blowing your own trumpet in today's world. Perhaps you can access the current Plimsoll report and see if they're one of the 89 companies now in danger! hehe

Pretty naff website. Financial services ambulance chasers from the look of it. Lots of SMEs have claims based on swap mis-selling and LIBOR fixing. A cottage industry of rather second rate lawyers has grown up around this.

Yer typical Oxbridge First who goes to the Bar ends up in a Magic Circle or at least a Silver Circle chambers or law firm. Something has maybe gone wrong with spanky bloke's career.

Spankfest. hehe

I was opening the thread imagining some mass spankathon and old risk adverse blokes wearing wigs being spanked by trainee solicitors dressed as Nazis. “You’ve not done due diligence you naughty boy, now you’re going to get some good jurisprudence” etc.

Has anyone actually been in a real barristers Spankfest? They must be happening loads.

Yes, at least those ole boys have the class to use a riding crop. Standards are slippering etc.

There was a report in the Record up here of a senior prosecutor being a regular at swinging parties, not sure if any spanking was involved though

I'm surprised at the sun used the word sanguine, rather above their typical reading age

How are Freshfields and Ashurst viewed? Are they top firms? (disregarding spanking for the moment)

Yes. Freshfields are super top. Ashursts are super grand. They are both megafirms. Ashursts are more fun.

If you are thinking of getting a training contract with either: DO NOT. Signing on to be a junior lawyer in a megafirm is a Faustian Bargain. Yes, they drown you in gold, but they will OWN YOUR BODY, MIND, AND SOUL. Seriously, Thanos is a better employer than an onshore megafirm.

I recall a story in one of the legal mags years ago regarding Slaughter & May doing a rebranding and it having to be explained to some of the partners that "S&M" might not be the right way to go.
