A much troubled character - but fantastic to watch and read.

No age at all really.

Man, that's terrible news to hear - certainly, a guy who has had a whole host of experiences - love watching his various shows.

CNN reporting it as suicide. Tragic, what a waste.

Very sad news. Kitchen Confidential is one of my goto reads to make myself feel better about not choosing kitchens as a profession smile

Genuinely saddened by this. Really liked his stuff and seemed like a guy you would love to go on a boozy holiday with.

Getting pretty sick of suicides. I know that's a rubbish statement but it seems far to frequent with 'personalities' as well as among my extended group. And no idea what we should do about it.

Very sad.
Can't say I'm surprised at the news in the slightest, TBH.

For someone I've never met and only enjoyed the work of from behind a screen or the pages of a book this has affected me more than it should have, I had a genuine lump in throat moment when I saw the headline for the first time and even as I type this I feel a bit weird. It could be the lunch from the Morrisons salad bar of course.

I'm not usually one to jump on the grief tourism bus and tend to chastise those who suddenly start singing the praises of the recently deceased when they haven't mentioned them at all previously but I'm going to take this one on the chin, great writer and presenter and seemed to have his life on track again when viewed through the filters of social media.

Really sad news.

I guess he had his fill.

Great writer and presenter.

Real shame he's gone.

Terrible news. An inspiration to many. Loads of his stuff on Netflix, a very entertaining watch.

Or order a well done steak.

A genuine shame. His books are great. I've only seen him on TV a couple of times but seemed a nice guy.
