I'd say a few of the clients probably fit the reasoning Weatherspoons are using better than dogs....

It won't affect me as I don't go to those pubs and I no longer own a dog but I would much rather go to a pub that banned kids than dogs. A few pints and some dogs to stroke and mess about with is very relaxing!

My favourite comment from that story:

"I wouldn't let my dog in there. I'm particular where I take him. I do like to keep him clean."

This really is getting ridiculous. We've a thread complaining about cinema users,
many, many bleats about other drivers, other people's kids, other people's behaviour and now this.

Why don't we just ban all human interaction with the aim of making everyone happy?

Or how about this? PHers can only moan on here if it's about something life changing/life threatening.

Yeah, let's ban families from Wetherspoons, then all the grumps can enjoy a peaceful 6 months in the pub while it goes out of businesses rolleyes

Interesting, prices will increase with the rollout of their own (admittedly) higher priced non- EU drinks. Now they want to ban dogs- sending those customers elsewhere. While I have no doubt that in London they will be ok (Friday night drinks) I could well imagine a few weatherspoons pubs closing in less populated areas

Well, I've spoken to Rover on the subject. He's naturally upset, although he's not sure where his nearest Wetherspoons is.

It's the ones that bring in untrained dogs. It's all fine when the dogs are trained but then someone brings in one that just wants to bark at the other dogs, this then sets some of the others off and all of a sudden you have a ruined atmosphere. Same when the ones come in that are constantly shouting "No rover! SIT DOWN! NO!"

If your dog does not play well with others, or does everything but listen to you, leave it at home.

Hands up, I used to take my dog (very well behaved ageing standard poodle) to the pub all the time and i spent a lot of time in the pub at one point. most people accepted her as part of the furniture and gave her a stroke or just ignored her and she ignored them. One regular was a misery guts about everything and quite vocal about having dogs in the pub 'All the time'. Eventually the manager had a word with me and asked me not to bring her in on Saturday and Sunday afternoons to try and shut this guy up.

I used to love seeing the local couple who would come in for a couple after walking their two Leonburgers at the weekend. The old boys face was a picture when these two massive wet slobbery dogs would come in and I would make a big fuss of them..

A Leonberger, yesterday.

I love dogs. However, as above, constant shouting 'SIT DOWN and NO!' tends to be annoying. As does having a dog's drooling face a foot from your meal when you're eating.

A well behaved dog is a delight. But a few wild ones spoil it for those owners who can take a dog to a pub knowing it can behave.

If a dog is trained its not a issue. If you take and treat your dog like a status symbol ( staffie etc ) and spend your giro in the local spoons then yes they are messy but so are the animal owners.

That sounds like my experience of them too. I don't think i ever heard either of them make a noise in the pub, but when they were both laying on the floor , crossing the bar became an obstacle course.

Used to frequent a pub that had a nice dog that lived there and a regular who brought his Bernese Mountain Dog that would lay in the doorway and you had to step over him to get to the pool table !

I like that kind of pub.

One time (at band camp) I took my dog into a pub I had never been in before and I noticed the barman looking up in surprise when he saw her. I was just about to ask him if I should put her in the car and he said " Not again, where did you find her?"

Turns out the pub dog was also a white standard poodle and he thought I was bringing his dog back hehe

I don't get this dogs in the pub culture that is increasing. I've absolutely nothing against well behaved dogs in pubs, but too many owners seem to think it's ok for their dogs to go wandering around the pub and over the furniture.

Not everyone is a dog fan, some are allergic, and dog hair over the chairs and on the tables is a no no for me. It's even worse where there is food being served.
