Presumably Grenfell will have had some impact on this decision.

Well, yes, that and the ever increasing number of high rise buildings in the city

Not sure you could easily have put a ladder like that against something like the Grenfell Tower specifically, but obviously if other tower blocks have internal fires they are extremely likely to get used.

Obviously though, let's hope they don't actually have to deploy them too often

Grenfell was 67m wasn't it.

Intrinsic building protection and better, tested process would seem advisable on top of this.

Driving and operating those things in a tight environment is challenging (dad was a fireman for 25yrs and a best mate is in the LFB).

In related news, Guildford based fire engine manufacturer John Dennis Coachbuilders closed their doors for the last time earlier this week, citing reduced demand and poor sales.

First of three 64m units delivered yesterday. Grenfell is 67m, so pretty much to the top.
2 funded by the Freemasons, the other by LFB themselves.
