Now I'm a moderate but I get the impression that's too right wing for most. I frequent dating sites/ apps where half the females seem to have some idealistic 'do not message me if you're a Tory' sort of caveats. Obviously it's quite easy to avoid such people but I feel I'd have to join UKIPdating.com to meet someone who isn't a raving Corbynite.
While I'm happy to have healthy debate, as did with about Brexit with my ex on our first date, I worry I'm in a niche by being politically open minded. Where can I meet normal people?

Maybe you’re not “politically open minded” and they’re the normal people. While I'm happy to have healthy debate, as did with about Brexit with my ex on our first date, I worry I'm in a niche by being politically open minded. Where can I meet normal people?
The NPandE political spectrum isn’t really a reflection on the outside world.
Plus most people aren’t interested in banging on about politics and brexit and lefties etc on a first or any date.

It hardly needs pointing out that people change as they get older and enter the real world. My wife attended some sort of pan European gathering at Strasbourg as a student and a long time later voted for Brexit in 2016.While I'm happy to have healthy debate, as did with about Brexit with my ex on our first date, I worry I'm in a niche by being politically open minded. I take it from your post you are dating young women so you just have to bear in mind they have just emerged from 16 years of political indoctrination. Some will have become more political than others in that period, some will enter the real world and develop more nuanced views.
If I were you I would avoid the out and out fanatics (often to be found with strangely dyed hair as a useful warning) and for the rest just follow the old dictum of not discussing politics, religion or money.

I suspect that's less because they are genuinely left wing and more because they are using left wing politics to display traits they perceive as desirable. Being seen to be caring, compassionate, open, conscientious and perhaps even a bit naïve make a female better mate material.
It doesn't mean they want a male partner with the same traits.
They want a cold hearted right winger to say unkind things and make difficult decisions for them. Someone who will protect them from their own folly by forming snap judgements and enforcing his will upon her.

Or to work fifty hour weeks to pay for everything while they spend two decades working part time after having kids.
They wont be looking for long haired hippies singing about lesbian seagulls at that point.

Or do what our resident injustice collector JagLover seems to have done...
Find an equally materialistic partner then whine constantly in the forums about how they left you & took you to the cleaners financially.
Well she hasn't actually left me as yet, perhaps you have me confused with someone else Find an equally materialistic partner then whine constantly in the forums about how they left you & took you to the cleaners financially.

The facts of life are conservative and what you call materialistic others would call necessary pragmatism.
To get this back to Brexit, as all threads must, there was a gender gap in the referendum with a narrow majority of women in favour of Remain (51/49) and a fairly convincing (55/45) majority of men favouring Leave.
https://www.ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/how-britain...
When you break down gender into age groups as statista do, then hide it behind a paywall, you see a whopping 80% of 18-24 year old women voted Remain while only 61% of men in that age group did.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/567922/distrib...
The numbers balance converge a bit more in later years, which only adds to my theory that those young women were voting Remain not because they actually think political union is a good thing but because they associate Remain with better relationship prospects for netting a higher earning, higher status remainer as per the narrative presented at the time and since.

It’s getting hard to tell these days.

In my opinion it’s down to being risk-averse and also shows in the pay gap rubbish in later life with job promotion, not buying the relationship angle because there are always men willing to hook up with the worst of them. https://www.ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/how-britain...

Listen to conversations between the thickest women and blokes. There’s always men fawning over them.
