Interesting article on the BBC site.....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-47675301

I was a little surprised that people do this. There are channels here that do the same thing. I'm currently watching 'inspiration TV' on channel 584 on sky. Seriously if you've got five minutes give it a watch its is erm bonkers.

So has anyone donated their seed to God?

edit : the shows now changed to someone singing. But i got a sideways pictures for your viewing pleasure

As I appear to be one of the few replying Christians on here, I'll bite again.

I really struggle with the church fabric of things, the buildings, the preachers, the expensive roofs and so on...

I appreciate funding spreading the word, however there's a whole lot of 'business' around the church.

These people are in a whole new league...

Still if you feel your God compels you, and that sending anything gives you a happy feeling, well that's your poison, it's no different to spending £50 down the pub is it...

I struggle that I'm a terrible Christian, but I hope to be given the chance to explain myself.

It would be nice for these people to do the same!!!

Indirectly I guess. I’ve heard screams of ‘Oh God/Jesus Christ’ whilst sowing seed. hehe

Sounds like a dirty Vicars defence after being caught with the choir boy...

We have some (sort of) family friends who are heavily into this. They don't have much money but quite happily donate a fair amount of money to whichever preacher is flavour of the month, on the basis that whatever you donate is returned tenfold or some other rubbish. I remember one time they said they sent something like £200 to one of them, and received God's gift in return because when their car broke down their mechanic didn't charge them for one of the parts it needed. Never mind the fact they could have spent the £200 on actually servicing the car and perhaps it wouldn't have broken down.

Even worse, one time they were desperately trying to find the money to take a trip to America to attend one of these "revival" things where preachers were healing people left, right and centre. Her son has some mild disability/learning difficulties and they just knew if he could be touched by God then he'd be healed. Thankfully they never found the money (although in hindsight, in the long term it might have been better for them to attend, be let down and then question their beliefs).

Funnily enough, on the few occasions we've met other members of their church, one of the biggest things they have in common is none of them have much money but happily donate to these TV preachers. I respect anyone's right to their faith, but can't believe these predatory con-artists are allowed to broadcast, especially in the UK. Surely some sort of regulator should step in...?

I suspect they wouldn't question their belief, more that they didn't contribute enough, weren't religious enough or any other excuse rather than realise they are getting their pants pulled down.

Legalised brainwashing at its best yet there is no shortage of people queuing up to 'believe'.
