It's a disturbing news day today. This is sickening behaviour from these gangs. How bad can psychological effects be to be a slave in modern day britain - to be able to interact with the public yet not say anything.

Some people really don't give a st about human life. Only have to look at gang wars as an example.

I went to a modern slavery training thing through work the other day (so we can spot signs to report) - its very prevelant.

I thought you were going to say that you were being trained as a slave owner.

Those sentences seem a bit of a joke for the misery caused.

Another one of the reasons why migrants entering the UK should have better checks made on them, having that system in place
could save a lot of people from misery and reduce the amount of money the taxpayer is shelling out to keep these criminals locked up.

I very much doubt that every one of them came in from Poland with a completely clean criminal record.

i totally agree with you 100%. Exploiting vulnerable people is right down there with kiddie fiddlers and rapists, the sentences need to be more of a deterrant, regardless of the immigration status of the victims (who should be offered support, not booted out because they became subject of threats and intimidation).

Heartbreaking how humans can treat other humans like that.

Its often folk from their own country or similar who run the rackets. So the hands-off their-community-will-fill-the-gap approach to immigration nowadays plays right into this.

Quite right, we should interfere in their lives and make them live like good British folk.

Unfortunately, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't

We have the Modern Slavery Act for a reason, sadly.

It's a few months old but this Guardian piece about modern slavery in the UK is interesting. Was surprised to read that 'car washing was the most prevalent industry reported to the Modern Slavery Helpline'.

From nail bars to car washes: how big is the UK's slavery problem? Across Britain, there are thousands of victims of this often invisible crime. To mark Anti-Slavery Day we look at the scale of hidden exploitation
