The number of people saying they're going to join in is increasing by thousands every hour. the Cnet article says 750,000 and I just checked the facebook page and there's 828,000 people saying they're going to turn up!

It's all apparently a big put-on but of the, say, 828,000 people who say they're going to "storm Area 51" how many don't know it's a big joke?

It's still an airbase isn't it - which would mean there are people with guns guarding it, doesn't it?
In UK airbases run by the US most of the people are walking around with at least sidearms, plenty have slung weapons as well..Can't imagine on US soil they will be carrying fewer weapons... I am guessing a "storming" of a large military establishment would be a most unwise option....."They can't stop us all" is one comment from the people saying they are going to storm the base.
Well i bet you one million dollars the first one to cop a high velocity bullet to the head is going to cause the rest to turn around and hot foot it the other way! It's really easy to be a hard man behind a keyboard on facebook, entirely another when faced by a well armed, er, army..

I'd wager that 95% of the people signing up to that have problems getting up, dressed and out the house of a day, never mind navigate what IIRC is about 30 miles of actual desert from the nearest public road to even get to the fence.
Any that do bother trying, I suspect most will see the bright lights, cheap booze, coke and hookers in Vegas and stay there for the weekend.

What's actually funny is the road network in that area is pretty limited, so it only needs half a dozen road blocks and its game over. What they going to do walk 100+ miles through mountains? I am sure "they" will play games with GPS in the area too, just for a laugh so people start walking in the wrong direction.
