To quote the great Windsor Davies,

Silly thing to do at this stage for her to even suggest it. She's folded and shown what a lightweight she actually is. Proves that the Scottish Parliament has a poor calibre of political tacticianers across the board.

I dunno, she managed what seemed the impossible in Scotland.

If Brexit wasn't hadn't turned Conservative & Unionists into Brexit! fk-The-Union'ers she'd be a party hero. IMO she still is, and will be a hard act to follow. A shame so many PHers can't respect those of different opinions.

What an angry old man you are.

Lots of words that make no sense whatsoever.

Personally I consider she is a principled person with a sharp intellect. A waste of a very good politician.

Really. She knows the damage that Scotland will suffer under a No Deal Brexit and the Tori’s will pay the price come the election.

Would you have preferred her to sell out her convictions?

Well said, she is a decent conservative and far from a show pony, ironic accusation given the current resident in number 10.

I'm disappointed in her. Where is her fighting spirit when Scotland needs a strong politician to maintain the union. She may disagree with Boris but rise above that and save us Scots from the SNP bandwagon of Sturgeon and her socialist communist ilk.

Agreed. I’m not a Tory but I could see myself voting for her.

It comes down to judgement. She has it and her critics here do not.

I’m sad but not disappointed. Without support from Westminster she is largely disenfranchised.

I like her as a person, but politically she's very wet.

If Boris manages to convince her to stay, he really will have pulled a blinder.

Given her reasons for resigning (not just Brexit) I'm not convinced anyone could convince her to stay.

she is head and shoulders above the majority in the scottish parliament, unfortunately that says as much about the standard of politician we have up here as it does of her capability.

i always held her in high regard as do many others i know, but i felt she struggled a bit on the big stage during the eu referendum campaign, suggesting the job she has is about her level in politics. no shame in that as she has more intellectual nous than the snp do collectively.

i hope she doesn't go as she really does keep the goon show on their toes and looked to be making serious inroads into creating a scottish conservative party that were a viable option at the ballot box for many scots that wouldn't previously have considered voting tory, including myself.

She's a quitter. A pension as plump as her ample rump awaits. Chips are down and she can't hack it sadly.

Oh no, what will we do?

Answer: carry on as usual. She’s a novelty Tory and nothing special

The Tories will only be able to limp on through weak minority or coalition governments until or unless they learn that their appeal needs to be metropolitan as well as rural.

Our demographics are not the same as the US. There are huge swathes of metropolitan seats in the UK that need to be won to stay in power.

Scarily, it’s nearly 30 years since the Tories last had a decent majority.

Under her leadership in Scotland the Tories went from 1 seat in 2015 to 13 in 2017. Those extra 12 seats were and are now pretty critical.

The performance in 2017 was the best in Scotland for the Tories since 1983.

Many of you might not like her, but you’re acting as if the Tories are somehow untouchable and that Boris is the champion that everyone loves. If there is a GE soon, whether forced or chosen then Scotland will move away from the Tories and those 13 seats will be hard to replace.
