The Queen is a German
Discussion
How come it is ok for shouty media types to frequently spout this little gem? I saw it more than a few times on Twitter yesterday. Apart from the fact it is complete bollards (the last British Monarch to be born outside the UK was George II in 1683!), surely by their own moral standards, if a first generation immigrant with a passport is 'British' how come it is acceptable to make such a claim about someone who's 'British' ancestry goes back over 300 years?
I'm sure I already know the answer to this

David Baddiel for one. Usually not shy about his SJW causes. Allegedly a comedian too but this doesn't really excuse this comment. Does he consider himself British or American I wonder?LimaDelta said:

It's just a daft joke. The royal family have German ancestry, if she did what Germany supposedly benefit from in thus situation it'd suit what I want, ho ho.He doesn't ACTUALLY think she's German, or would act to put German interests ahead of her duties.
There's a similar joke about the monarchy in Blackadder Goes Forth.
The monarch's German ancestry doesn't actually matter, and didn't before... I guess you could say it's just a Hanover from an earlier time.

it was the first thing I thought if.
Darling says he is as English as Queen Victoria, Blackadder replies 'So your father's German, you're half German and you married a German.'

Given the Anglo-Saxon invasion I guess the bulk of the population will have some German ancestry.
THere was some genetic studies a while back that might suggest the large scale Anglo-Saxon 'invasions' may not have been as large as predominately thought. And could have been briton propaganda. It's all interesting anyway.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-353...
