with all this talk of the PM being forced to go back and get (demand) an extension nothing is being mentioned about the fact that the EU (France in particular) could very well turn around and say "...you've had three years to sort your st out, nothing's been done so bugger off..."

Would the EU do this? If they do I guess that that means that no deal will happen regardless of the wishes of parliament.

The question is though - will the EU actually have the balls to do this?

Of course they won’t.

“Extension” = “still in”

I doubt that even the french are stupid enough to expel one of the very few contributing members, if they don’t have to.

The EU will do what is in their interests, so yes ofcourse they will. UK isn't some tiny insignificant player like, say, Malta.

Payoff money aside, strategically the EU don't want UK aligning further with USA or China, never mind Russia. Ireland will be hit hard in a hard Brexit as the UK market is very important to them, Holland is another that is heavily dependent for their exports and so on. There will no winners in the short term.

For the rest of Europe watching us thrashing around chasing our tail, it must be sad and pathetic,
like watching a old prize fighter slowly succumb to the effects of too many one sided fights
and too many bottles of Jack Daniels.
Even the Greeks must feel sorry for us having such a incompetent and lacklustre government.
