An interesting statistic, apparently over half of these 200,000 are under 35, implying younger people are becoming more and more interested in politics.
It goes on to say that one 20 year old they interviewed, "would either vote for the Conseratives or the Green Party".
To me, those two parties are at different ends of the political spectrum, I'm not sure how you could consider both of them, only one or the other. Am I talking rubbish, are these two parties more aligned than I think?

I would always expect the majority of people registering to vote to be young. You would normally register to vote either when you move house or when you become old enough to vote for the first time. Both of these events would normally skew towards young people.
Historically, youth votes represent the greatest tranche of apathy in the electorate. If the figures are correct, I would be concerned were I a Brexit supporter who'd spent the past three years trying to look the other way at the vast increase of knowledge in common circulation of how things actually work between us & Europe & who stands to lose the most from Brexit.banjowilly said:

Concerned about what? The birth rate was about 660,000 back in 2000/2001 (it's gone up a bit since) so there's about that many people turning 18 and eligible for the first time.
With all the election talk there's been a lot of awareness for students that they need to either register at their uni address or sort out a postal vote at home in order to avoid needing to travel back to vote. It's probably encouraged more to register for the first time too.

Could be students registering both at home and where they’re studying

People think the Green Party are the party for the environment...which they are to a point until you read their scary manifesto. Students don’t read their manifesto of course. Nobody would vote Greens if they did.
What part of the Green manifesto would damage the environment?Fittster said:
