Apparently Apple's iPhone 11 Pro is 'triggering' fear of holes.

The tweet in the article is correct - Apple did not think of people with Trypophobia

I suspect they also didn't think of people with other, similarly tangible phobias, such as people who have a phobia of Tim Cook and roll neck jumpers, people who have a phobia of the colour orange etc.

Hah!

Considering the design of the iPhone 11 was changed slightly after user acceptance testing of the concept prototypes criticised the look of the large dark square around the cameras that was intended to disguise the holes.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Well, you've got to love the BBC using a gratuitous crumpet shot in an article likely to be of interest to survivors of Trypophobia.

"The response to seeing small holes can be very extreme, their study suggests.
Dr Cole and Prof Wilkins reported testimonies from some people who vomited and others who said they could not go to work for several days."
yikes

I'm obviously too old to understand.....is it just me or is there a sharp rise in these type of reactions to things that have always seemed inconsequential/non-existent to most? Or is it just that awareness of same is greater due to the internet?

You’re about right. People have always looked for excuses to avoid responsibility or work, the internet just makes it easier
