Before anyone comments - this is not a for or against brexit thread, we have one of those!

To bring a case to the high court must cost quite a bit of money, when lawyers are challenging the government its certainly not going to be on a no win-no fee basis!

Who is paying for this? I cant imagine for a second its being personally funded? This is a genuine question as surely it should be transparent to ensure no external (to the UK) influence is applied.

Either nobody seems to be asking or I've missed this, even google fails to answer?!

What protects everyone in this country is the rule of law. It doesn't matter who funds it.

National Newspapers however..

That was for the Scottish case not this latest one at the Supreme court.

It's unlikely anyone will openly admit to funding this case, it isn't Gina Miller but her very rich and powerful friends who will go to any lengths to stop Brexit and financial cost is an irrelevance.

Agreed, but it also depends considerably on how much cash is available as to who has the better representation.

As far as I am aware, it is funded through the Best for Britain foundation: https://www.bestforbritain.org/ i.e. donations. I think George Soros made a large donation.

How much of the original £400k donation is left for this case is unclear though

Just curious about the numbers....they suggest they needed £40k for preliminary and up to £100k in total.

Given this happened in a pretty short space of time....& I know they suggest they will publish numbers.....but seriously, how do those involved justify sums hitting those numbers?

I'm in the wrong business hehe

Top hookers can charge more. But you'd probably have a better time with them.

Of that I have no doubt ... probably more difficult to crowd-fund for though!

I wouldn't be surprised if she has at least 5 on her team - trainee, associate and partner from solicitors, QC and junior from chambers. The meter will be ticking over at a serious rate for that lot.

If we separate the Gina Miller case out from the others

They will have paid a stload to solicitors and barristers for the first part in the High Court and a stload more for the Supreme court part - I bet it will be costing hundreds of thousands - probably 500k - would not surprise me if it was a £1m. Aside from the 2 or 3 barristers they have sitting in court they will have lots of solicitor types in the background. All charging extortionate fees no doubt.

I suspect its all coming from private donations though.
