India bans vaping
Discussion
The only reason they would ban it is because they would lose the tax on millions of packets of cigs sold there.
If they cared about their people they would not let them sit on top of packed trains

What a shame I will never be able to visit my Mumbai office

Rather than ban it, why not just tax e-cigarettes too if tax revenue were the only motive? Win win.
e cigs are just too dangerous. How about our very own NHS, what do they say:

When I was smoking it was costing me about £270 a month, vaping costs me about £20. They would not get the same amount of revenue if they taxed ecigs Slap on a 95% tax on vaping consumables, job done. Might not be popular, I grant you.

No skin in the game either way as have never smoked...but it would not surprise me in the slightest to read medical journals in 20yrs' time noting the e-cigarettes should be banned.
New York too have recently imposed a ban albeit a partial one.

Thought this recent article about vaping was interesting.

I’m not a vaper or a smoker, nor do I think either should be banned, however if you’re going to ban vaping then how can you not ban smoking?
It’s like banning knives in public yet allowing handguns to be carried.

I think the NHS's harm reduction based approach is very sensible.
I think this alternate view is a load of old cobblers;

Dogmatic, still fighting the good fight against big tobacco, and the assertion that smokers don't quite smoking to vape, or that they are more concerned about addiction in the abstract than avoiding the health and cost implications of cigarettes seems bizarre. The UK is full of ex-smokers who vape and don't smoke. They seem to be forgetting that the perfect is the enemy of the good.

Are those 6 deaths from legal, licenced nicotine based E-cigs or dodgy black market vape pens for weed that have dodgy chemicals in them?
It is looking like the latter. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/palo...
I suspect the really big problem that the nannyish types have is that vaping appears to be a smoking cessation tool which doesn't make people miserable.
It's estimated that 13 million people vape in the US yet 6 deaths makes headline news !
6 people out of 13 million will have died doing ANYTHING.
Half a million die in the US every year from smoking related illness, they don't propose to ban cigarettes though.
This smacks of back door propaganda shenanigans by the tobacco companies and the irony is off the chart.
As far as danger to health is concerned in India I'd rate vaping at the bottom of the chart, putting yourself at risk of death in that country is almost a hobby.

It seems to me that governments might benefit from encouraging smoking and vaping, countries are over populated and have pension / long term care / environmental issues they cannot fix. A reduction in population and life expectancy would help but the economies are built on continual growth so it is an unpopular stance I guess?

500 cases of hospitation there are 7 deaths now. Out of the 500 a lot will have permanent lung damage.6 people out of 13 million will have died doing ANYTHING.
There is evidence long term use can cause damage to the lungs. It is good at getting people off fags, but is attracting young people and seen as cool, which it shouldn't be.
''New research suggests vapour from e-cigarettes could be harmful to cells in the lungs.
Scientists at the University of Birmingham found the vapour produced may damage the cells which are supposed to remove dust particles and bacteria from the organs - leading to some of the effects seen in smokers and people with lung disease.''
