I think that's just about the dullest thing I've ever read! biggrin

Admittedly I got so bored I gave up fairly quickly, maybe it got more exciting after that.

Reminds me of my days down south... car to the station, had to rocket down down the road to make sure I cut up little Chinese lady so that she did not get out of her drive in front of me or I would miss the train, then I would be in competition against another nemisis who had also worked out one of the pillars on the platform was perfect to lean against and the train doors stopped right by it. Sad life.

There’s a slightly thicker line of concrete between paving slabs that I line up to every morning at the station. This gets me in pole position for the station stairs and I don’t think I’m alone in this!

When it's dry I ride my bike to work. I know there are 17 manhole covers, the fourth of which must be avoided as there is a pothole to the left of it which rattles the old fillings. There is also some tosser in a black Renault Clio who I don't like the look of. Even if I vary time of driveway departure, he is ALWAYS there....

You know when you catch the same train regularly you kind of know where it will stop so try to gauge where the doors will be ... on my regular commute in to London there was a chap stood legs akimbo so wide that he was sort of half splits, just so that no one could get in "his door" first!

Thank god for not having to use public transport and flexible hours

Not driving to the station but still on the way to my old work. There was one bloke in an R8 that if I saw in front of me my heart sank, you'd think that having an R8 would imply somebody that could drive, but no. Dawdle round the ring road then through town to the A14 slip road, up the slip road and move immediately to the overtaking lane and top out at 60mph (this was in the days before the 40mph limit through the roadworks). Do not leave the overtaking lane until you are ready to come off the M11 at the Addenbrookes junction.

Regular cycle commuters do this too but we have a scoring system, the rules are akin to Mornington Crescent but if you're in flip flops on a single speed mtb and you overtake a guy in lycra on a carbon bike, you win the points.

This isn't new, I remember reading a short story about exactly this 40 years ago.

I used to cycle to work, around 20 miles each way.

I overtook one guy and thought no more about it, but the sad bloke sped up and overtook me, and you could see from his body language that he thought he'd justified his existence. It was really quite sad. I felt sorry for someone for whom such a shallow victory made him feel special.

He kept up the speed as well. I nearly killed myself overtaking him.

I ride a motorcycle to work most days and pass a chap on the way in and on the way out on a blue Fazer 100. Bike nods are exchanged...wonder what he thought when I accidentally waved one time when I took the car in.

That reads more like a Daily Mash spoof than a real story.

Did the Mirror print a Daily Mash story by mistake?

There's not much to do in Tufnell Park, dodge antisocial knife wielding schoolkids, walk into Camden or Islington boroughs, or go on the Northern Line (tube) into London and follow strangers around...

Well, sounds quite a lot to me!

Many years ago I used to know exactly where to stand on the platform on the Piccadilly line at Kings cross to board the underground train so I would be right by the exit at any station from Kings cross to Earl’s Court, depending where I had to go. Very very sad.
