I read that article earlier, I genuinely know next to nothing about this guy, but he is clearly mentally ill. I hope he has someone close to him that does the right thing and that he will get help.

He won’t get any help because I imagine he’s surrounded himself with sycophants. Much like today’s “snowflakes” are supposedly told they can’t lose, are entitled to everything, etc etc, I imagine he is constantly told that everything he does, creates, produces, etc is great and the best thing ever.

Seems to me that most highly creative people are a bit deranged, sitting somewhere on the spectrum between ‘normal’ and ‘mentally ill’. Whilst they are successful, there may even be a virtuous circle between praise, confidence, and creative output. The worry is what happens when the music stops (so to speak), and they stop being successful. I therefore hope for his sake that the new release does well...
