As the BBC presenters regularly struggle with pronouncing 'Newcastle' in a Geordie accent, I wonder if other regional dialects are being ignored?

I would like to hear, tongue in cheek of course, the election results for every constituency being presented in the local 'stranguage' to make the event more entertaining!

I must take issue with presenters attempting a Hampshire accent when quoting the candidate for Norf East Ampshire (per R5 Live this evening), but I wonder how many others seek redress for their regional dialect?

Discuss?

Just get the whole thing narrated by the bloke who did Big Brother; he needs the work these days.

Are you suggesting that those from one region should change their pronunciation when talking about other regions?

It's not as if I would want a Geordie trying to convert to a London accent. The thought is surreal. The thing about regional accents is that they should be used by those to whom it is natural without criticism or being required to change.

St John, Mainwaring and Marjoribanks, together with Magdalen College and Bosham, have all accepted pronunciations that are counter intuitive, but should be followed, but by all means in a regional accent.

Maybe just me but, I regularly hear news and sports presenters trying to pronounce Newcastle in a local dialect. Why only Newcastle?

Anyway, for fun, I would like to listen to Dimbleby et al, on the BBC Election Special (we're bound to have one aren't we?) attempt all our regional accents when discussing who has been elected or rejected!!

Rory Bremner would be the easiest option, but where's the challenge in that?
