Turner Prize - No single winner?
Discussion
This year's Turner prize has apparently been given to all 4 finalists as they requested to be considered a coalition in some show of solidarity in the face of conflict across the world and racial disharmony.
Is this going to become like what apparently happens a lot in schools these days where there are no winners and also no losers?
On a similar note, I heard from a colleague today that for many families with multiple children, it is increasingly common that when one of the children has a birthday, their sibling(s) also get a present "so they don't feel left out"? Really - does this actually happen?
I think I must be getting old as it all seems more than a little strange to me.

That's hilarious. Also pathetic.

Anyway when it's someone elses birthday Timpson has to blow their candles out. Repeatedly. This just seems to me to be the same kind of liberal parenting that does this "everyone is a winner" thing.
Should be out shovelling coal or cleaning chimneys. The lad is going to grow up a wimp.
It has given massive publicity to 4 artists that until today not may people had heard of, 4 artists that even fewer gave a s
t about. The dips
t virtue signalling will do their careers no harm, will help those dishing out tax payer money know they are the right sort of bellend.
This Lawrence Abu Hamdans type of work, or flat mid refurb as I call it.

Helen Cammock, HTF that is art, it looks a school library at lunch time.

Oscar Murillo or fly tipping as it is also known.

Tai Shani- quite like that

Ha ha, I didn't realise what a load of guff this was.
It's right that these 4 have managed to get themselves a load of extra publicity. But next year who will pay any attention after the nominations are announced when you already know they're all winners?
Also, how come the selfish b
ds didn't share their prize with all the other winners that did 'art' last year?

Our primary school sports days have team competition splitting the school into 8 countries and then they compete for points - prize for the top 3. So it takes the individual competitiveness of it but promotes teamwork and there is still a winning team.CC said:

Our 6 year old gives her 2 year old sister all of the boxes her presents come in.
Edited as the "&" screws up quoting.

There are always losers with the Turner prize, those of us that end up seeing the entries.

I was wondering why none of the news stories covering this mentioned any of the art that 'won', now I see why...

What's going to happen next year? If one artist wins it they'll look pretty selfish if they don't share the prize.
I am hardly confused with someone who knows art, but my view is that if I can do it, it's garbage.
I went to MoMA in NYC and there was a shoe box on the floor. That was it.
I thought someone was taking the piss. There was also someone telling people not to photograph it.
Here a photograph of it. Hateful thing.
