Us petrolheads dodged a bullet with Corbyn not getting in. Lots of the free stuff would've been paid by us at the pumps and through road tax wrapped up in an excuse 'it's saving the planet'
Looking forward to Spring to get our pride and joy out without that killjoy Corbyn anywhere near power.

Don’t worry, mate there will be another killjoy along soon enough.

Once the smokers and fatties have been sorted out, petrol heads will be fully in the sights.

And remember no matter who you vote for the government get in.

The writing is on the wall for fossil cars in daily use and there is a lot of political pressure to speed up going green

Also there are still plenty of car hating alt left cultists still in power at councils, TFL etc.

I would say on the wall but in small letters, electric cars are still not affordable or viable for the masses. It will probably take 10 years to become mainstream.

I didn't see anything from Boris or Jeremy that was going to have any impact (positive or negative) on driving (and enjoying) my car ... I certainly didn't put it away until spring just in case.

Exactly, to my knowledge neither said they'd increase fuel duty or 'road tax' to pay for their commitments.

If Corbyn got in he would've shafted the motorist.

Aren't there more appropriate 'specialist' forums for you to share your fantasies? Also grow a pair and drive your car in the winter!

You are correct - I live in a South West London Borough and the labour ran council have jacked the price of on street parking permits up by 100% starting from January. This is under the guise of "environmental protection" yet the A3 runs straight down the middle of the borough, the parking permits only exist in half the borough (what they see as the Tory voting half) and any cars parked on drives outside the larger houses do not need parking permits (these also tend to be great whooping 4x4s).

This is clearly shameless money grabbing rather than any coherent environmental policy...

For crying out loud, Mark-C! What more evidence do you need??!
Sorry, I've been an idiot .... I wish I'd put my car into cryogenic storage so I could smugly remove it sometime in the Spring ...

Would you rather they close the A3 instead? Believe it or not they can't impose parking charges on private property...

Conservative manifesto said:
To go net zero means that emissions from homes, transport, farming, and industry will be hugely reduced, with any remaining emissions offset by planting trees or using carbon capture technology to take CO2 out of the atmosphere.

In terms of practical policy, to achieve this the government will end the sale of new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040, roll out chargepoints across the country to give more people the option of owning an electric vehicle, and more.
And I'm still glad I didn't park my car up for winter like "petrolhead" Raygun ...

That's not my point at all. The point is that the motorist is a very easy target for raising money using "the environment" as a reason, in reality - in this specific example, increasing the parking charges doesn't do anything whatsoever to help the environment - but it does line the council pockets very nicely.
