Woman admits trying to open Stansted plane door mid-flight https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-508931...

Stupid and drunk, a winning combination.

I've been on a plane when a woman tried that. Everybody shouted nooooo as if one. She was grabbed pretty quickly.

I thought it was impossible to open a door whilst it was in flight?

So why do people all bent of shape when someone tries?

I wonder if it because someone is deliberately doing something which, if she succeeded, would kill them all? /s

Drop to 3500ft, open the door and push her out, close door and resume normal altitude for the rest of the flight.

Any problem with this? Everybody happy and one less carbon based moron to worry about!

Merry Christmas!

I wonder if the airline will pursue the £85,000 bill they sent to her.

One, of course, should never hit a woman, except in an instance like this, If I got to her first, I'd deck her
with one punch and gaffer tape her to her seat for the rest of the flight.

Don't act the fool on a plane, people don't like it, they get a bit stressed.

Yep, those of us who are nervous flyers at the best of times would not respond well to somebody trying to kill everybody on board. They're lucky they didn't end up with brain damage, though perhaps it was hard to tell.

It is impossible in these planes.

But like shouting FIRE in a crowded room, panicked individuals can cause issues.

I’d have just let her try, she’d get bored pretty quickly, then just point at her and laugh.

Yes they are.

For those asking about if it's even possible to open the door, once a 737-800 is pressurised the cabin differential pressure is around 8psi, this being the amount of pressure holding the door closed basically. Given that the door needs to first open inwards before it swings outside the fuselage (plug doors), you'd need to be able to overcome 8psi on a door that's around 6'x4', which equates to roughly 3,750 square inches, resulting in 30,000lb of air pressure holding the door closed.

She's a silly girl who will hopefully not only teach herself a valuable lesson, but make others think twice before getting drunk or disruptive onboard a commercial passenger jet.
